From left to right are Ms Salome Mkuchu -Headmistress, Mr Clarke Blynn-Chairperson of Nurturing Minds, the guest of Hon. Fatma Mwassa, Polly Dolan-Director of SEGA and Mr Onesmo Haluyi-Acting SEGA Board Chair. The STV VII also received different gifts from SEGA administration during the graduation day. Astridah is a graduate from the University of Zambia (B.A.Ed, 1979), and has over 34 years experience teaching Mathematics and Geography, including 15 years as a headmistress and student counselling. She also has varied experience in the management at secondary school level: budgeting, strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and report writing. As Headmistress of Askofu Adrian Mkoba Secondary School, the Ministry of Education and Culture (prior name for government office), selected her school to pilot a program for disadvantaged girls. The Project was called GSES(Girls` Secondary Education Support Project), and based on its impressive success, Astridah was requested to present a paper for one of the conference workshops. Astridah initially served as The Sega Girls School Education Coordinator for its first day program for non-formal education students that began in July 2008.


Oscar Mlowe holds a Diploma in Education (Commerce and Bookkeeping) from the Kasulu Teachers’ College in Tanzania and has developed his career in information communications technologies (ICT) within the field of education. From 2006-2008 as part of a national program to upgrade Teacher Training Colleges, he installed local area networks and trained all Teachers Colleges tutors in Tanzania on network device installation and computer application programmes. Oscar currently serves as an Assistant Systems Administrator at the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, based at the lead college in Morogoro, coordinating and conducting computer systems training for 34 teacher training colleges in Tanzania, and is a certified trainer and organizer of Cisco IT Essentials coursesl.
